Custom Kauri respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect
When you get in touch by email, phone or social media, we collect the details you choose to share with us, such as:
- your name
- your email address and phone number
- details about the piece you would like made, such as size, style and budget
- anything else you include in your message
When you visit this website, we also collect information about how the site is used. This is described under Analytics and advertising below.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote
- design, make and deliver your piece
- arrange a visit to our Christchurch gallery
- keep you updated about your order
- understand how people use our website so we can improve it
- measure and improve our advertising
We do not sell your personal information.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website, for example which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology. The information is aggregated and does not tell us who you are.
We may also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It helps us see whether our advertising is working and lets us show relevant ads to people who have visited our website. Meta may use cookies to do this.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. You can control the ads Meta shows you in your Facebook ad preferences.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information when we need to, for example with the service providers that host our website and email, and with Google and Meta for the analytics and advertising described above. Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How we store and protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure and to protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, contact us at info@customkauri.co.nz. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
